Hello all,

Recently, I am facing an issue of all of the flows in a power platform solution NOT triggering when the alert rules created in the linked environment were activated by change based alert batch job which is set to run continuously every 1 minute.

This was working just fine before the power platform solution was overwritten by an obsolete solution and the original solution was then restored from the backup.

I have checked that both dataverse and the D365FO environments are correctly linked and are updated to the latest general releases. All necessary batch jobs are in F&O running. All alert rules are correctly setup to send the alert externally to business events catalogue. All related business event endpoints are in active state.

I have very much tried everything to get the trigger to work but without avail.

Hope someone has come across and resolve this issue, so I would appreciate any help from the community.

All,

Found the resolution to the issue.

It appears that when the development team had put the Power Platform environment in administration mode, the flows stopped working.

It was a simple case of turning off the administration mode and the triggers started firing the flows.

Hm....

Tbh, I would create a MS Ticket and check with them. Maybe someone else has an idea.

I would do the following test and forward it to MS to limit the area of possible issues:

Check in PA if the flow runs by manual trigger instead of a business event

Check if it works in other environments, like dev or another sandbox environment.

You said you created the flow from scratch, did you create it in the same solution? If so, I would suggest to try to create the flow in a new solution or without any solution, just the flow itself.

You mentioned that you had to migrate all solutions from DEV to UAT and I am wondering what you mean by "migration"? Export and import the solution or by another method? If another method is even possible, I would assume that there are some references that are still pointing to DEV instead to UAT.

Thank you for your message.

As suggested, I changed the business event for one trigger from Alert to 'When PO is received'. I followed this up to the business event catalog and confirmed that one of the endpoints got changed from 'When as alert rule is triggered' to 'Purchase' order received.

I then tested the flow by manually by receiving a PO in F&O. The business event catalog didn't show any error, but the flow didn't run and got timed out. It seems the business event trigger didn't get passed to the flow.

If the business event is of a type alert, I usually get a notification to say that the business event had happened. For for other types of business events such as 'Purchase order is received', apart from any logs in the business event catalog, I am not aware of any way to debug if business event was indeed triggered.

I would try to split the issue in 2 steps in order to be able to analyze the cause of it. I am wondering if the business event is not triggered or if it is triggered, but not passed to PA.

1.: In Power automate (PA), could you use another business event and see if it works?

You should also see here your entpoint of your flow. If there is no connection to a flow, f.e. after a database copy from PROD to sandbox, it helps to resubmit a flow.

2.: Is it possible for you to debug the UAT data to check if the business event is triggered?

Once you know if step 1 or 2 is true (or both), we can proceed.

Hi Andre,

Good to hear from you. This is a UAT sandbox environment (phew!!). Unfortunately, we had working/updated solution in the UAT and not in DEVBOX. When all solutions were migrated from DevBox into UAT sandbox, the working power automate solution got overwritten. Once we realised the issue, the backup of the working solution was restored, but the issue with the flows not triggering started. I am not certain if this is the cause of the triggers failing and keen to understand why?

I have tried creating a new alert rule in F&O and specifying that in the flow without success. I have even tried creating a new flow all together and pairing it with a new alert rule. Something is causing the business event alert not to reach the flow to trigger it.

Hi Amit,

What exactly do you mean by "overwritten by an obsolete solution"? What happened in detail? Is this a production environment or a sandbox?

Have you tried to editing the Power Automate flows and reselecting the business event in the trigger action?
