    1. It's impossible to estimate without more information. For instance, if you need only a few modifications or team of twenty working for two years will make a huge difference in costs.

    2. Yes, but whether it's feasible it depends on your particular situation.

    3. No, programming mission-critical ERP systems without necessary skills isn't a good idea. You can have somebody making little reports, for instance, but you don't want somebody to screw up accounting logic, for instance.

    4. As 1.

    5. What about it?

    1. What would be the Cost for implementing MS Dynamics to 500-1000 Employee Organisation?

Satya- Will need more information on this. Cost consists of following

    a. Licensing cost per month for 500-1000 users  (You can refer to the licensing guide for this, generally the top license is around USD 200+/month, mid level is USD 50 per month and lowest is USD 8 per month). It is very high level costing.

    b. Implementation cost of a vendor - It also depends on the duration of the project. You should always try to make a good combination of onsite and offshore resource to keep the cost minimum

    c. Cost of the internal IT team - Always hire a capable ERP team internally as well. Don't leave everything to the vendor.

    d. Indirect cost of the business involvement - It is hard to estimate this cost but you got to spare some resources from your day to day operations.

    2. Is it possible to implement Module by Module and integrate them at later stage?-

Satya- Always starts with finance. Other modules can follow. The sequence depends on your industry. We did one recent rollout in following sequence - Finance + Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Retail, HR/Payroll

    3. Can Customisation of MIS/Module can be done in house by anyone (even with little programming knowledge)?

Satya- Hire some power BI resources and one good solution architect internally. It will be a good combination.

    4. What would be the Timeline for Implementing MS Dynamics AX in the Organisation with 500 Employees?

Satya- It can range from 8 months to 2 years. Will need more information e.g. industry, number of modules, entities, countries, legacy system capability

    5. What about Document Management System?

Satya- Use share point, works very well with Microsoft Dynamics

    6. What is the extent of Project Management Monitoring (Resource Planning, Scheduling etc)

Satya- You need a strong PM, 50% of the ERP projects fail or don't meed the desired result. Cost, Time, Quality all should be controlled well.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Rasendra,

Do you plan to implement D365FO or AX2012?

To add also my '50 cents' to that, here some comments from my side:

    For 1:

    Fully agree with Martin.

It is impossible to do a serious cost estimation based on the number of employees only. There are too many other influencing factors that you have not mentioned and that you can possibly not know yet.

    For 2:

Module by module is possible but not the best approach. Talk to your implementation partner and/or Microsoft. They give you best practice examples.

    For 3:

Agree with Martin. No. Even if you and your teams are an absolutely genius I doubt that this can be done all alone inhouse.

    For 4:

    See No 1.

    For 5:

    I am with Satya here.

SharePoint is a cheap and good option to realize that.

    For 6:

In one of my previous companies we had estimates between 3-8% Project management - in terms of total costs - for single project implementations depending on the scale and complexity of course. The upper limit was around 13-15% of the total costs for complex global projects with rollouts all over the world. Also here you have a wide range and need to go into discussions with your partner / MS.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I recommend asking quotes from D365 partners in your region. They will also ask the right questions from you.

Your local Microsoft can help in finding those partners.

It's not possible to give any reliable estimations based on a short forum discussions.

That is the correct answer! See you local MS Partner. Much said with less words.
