User specific reprint of documents with different print management settings

Hello Everyone,

I have a question about reprinting already printed documents. Is it possible for a user to be able to print a document, for example a sales confirmation, over another print destination?

Example: User "A" prints a sales confirmation via printer "A" on April 1. Two days later, user "B" wants to print the same sales confirmation or a copy of it via printer "C".

We are using Dynamics AX2012 R2 CU9. We tried to reprint the documents via "use print management" but this is only triggering the reprint via printer "A".

Is there a general solution for my problem or is it not provided?

Thanks for your help!

C

    Hi,

I might not understand you issue, but if I want to reprint a doc from a e.g. journal I can switch to a specific printer when using print management. It is also part of the standard printing process to choose the destination when you reach print management from the form setup. Can you give some more details please?

    Regards,

    István

    Hey István,

thanks for your reply! I'm sorry, I thought I was giving you the details you needed. Reprinting original sales confirmations wasn't the best example i could give.

The first thing you need to know is: We connected our users to their specific printers via "Sales Ledger" -> "Form setup" -> "Print management". So every User of a division prints via its departments printer. But there are several floors and several printers per division.

So this is the case: Let's assume that we have completed a sales order and finished the process with booking the invoice and printing it. So User "A", who's working on the first floor has booked and printed the invoice via printer "A".

Now User "A" goes on vacation. One week later, User "B", who is his vacation replacement, wants to reprint the invoice because the printed version is lost and can not be found. The typical way of reprinting a already printed/booked invoice is to navigate to the journal and use the button "use print management". However, this function prints the invoice only over the original printer to which it was previously printed.

Now let's assume the vacation replacement - User "B" - is working on the third floor and doesn't want to go downstairs. He wants to print the invoice on his printer "B", not printer "A". But this is not possible because "use print management" always uses the printer that was used before. Same goes for the Button "Send" -> "Original".

So my question is: Is it possible to reprint the original invoice on a different printer than before. There is no standard printing window where you can chose a different printer when you try to go over "use print management" or "send -> original". Or am I just looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

Maybe I'm in the wrong place, but I can select a new physisal printer when using print management from a journal (invoice journal/use print management/file/print):

Or is it not what you use?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,

yes, you are in the right place. I forgot to mention that we can't use this printing options because we are working with a printing extention via "planet press". That's why we can only use Preview/Print -> Use print management. Thanks for your help anyway. This is obviously not a general AX issue.

I think I can fix it via the Form Setup settings.

    Thanks for your help anyway!

    Best regards,

    C.
