Financial analysis overview - current company and all companies not displaying data

Hello everyone,

We want to start using the Financial analysis overview for our operating companies in D365, but we have missing data.

After some analysis, I believe the problem is with the main account categories we have defined for our main accounts. We have a lot of out of the box, custom main account categories created by ourselves assigned to our main accounts which are not part of the calculations displayed in the PoweBI dashboard content. I found that the following entities are used as the basis of the Financial Performance: GeneralLedgerActivities and BidgetActivities.

Is there some way to see which main account categories are used in the calculations, so we can see how to proceed further with this?

We have a lot of Financial reports based on the existing main account categories as they are currently in the system.

I checked the option link main accounts, but if we use option Link all it changes the main account category to most of the accounts and will cause issues with our existing Financial reports.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Teodora

    Hi TeodoraMK,

You are correct in identifying the main problem is the custom main account categories. (Assume that you have refreshed correctly "Entity store")

Main account categories are used to calculate in almost pages in Financial overview analysis dashboard. The system used field "Reference ID" in Main account categories form (You can insert column to see this field)  to calculate in formula.  For more technical details, you can log in to LCS > Projects > Asset library > Power BI report model, download Power BI files and then explore it.

In my opinion, we should use standard main account categories (about 55 categories), don't create custom main account categories if you want to utilize standard dashboard.

For your case, it would be better if you can change the way to get data to other financial reports in stead of using main account categories. If impossible, you have to customize Financial analysis overview power BI embedded (Not recommend)

    Hi Thang,

Thank you very much for your response, I appreciate it.

Now that I am 100% sure for the reason behind this I can report back to the business side and discuss possible solutions.

    Have a nice day.

    Regards,

    Teodora
