Permission to Create new record but not Edit

I’m in a bit of a pickle and wondered if you could help

I have a requirement where I wish to restrict access for the user to be able to ‘Edit’ vendor bank account information, but still hold the ability for the user to create new records and also delete current records. I have tried seemingly everything within the permissions of the ‘Maintain vendor bank account’ privilege. However, if I restrict access using ‘Deny’ to Edit the record, it also makes it impossible for the user to Create a ‘New’ vendor bank account – all the fields are blanked out.

Do you know how I could resolve this issue. It would be such a big help if you have any ideas?

    Hi

With OOTB update permission rules, if you are allowing the update rights, it means then can create the new one as well.

    • Create - Low rights
    • Update - Medium rights
    • Delete- Full rights

    Alternate

You need to make some customization.

    • Create one security role.
    • On Form, initialization check either user has this role then hides the new and delete button or disable it.

    Hi Jacob,

Deny on edit is implicating that the user will not be able to edit the fields anymore. You have to go for a customization. With eXtensible Data Security you can manage if a person would be able to update records or not based on conditions.

You can also think of implementing a change workflow for bank accounts.

    Hi Jacob Anthony,

The Security frameworks do not have such OOB features. You can try applying security at the field level. Please check:alexdmeyer.com/.../

Or you can do some customization to disable the editing of fields at the data source level.
