Quick view form on account with multiple level in hierarchy

Hello,

I'm building a solution for a customer, and I'm a bit stuck. The customer want to show a custom text Field from account to all child accounts. This works fine when there is just one Hierarchy level With quick view form. But how can i accomplish this when there is more than one Hierarchy level?

Ex:

1. Parent account -> Child account(1) - Quick view form Works fine on child account.

2. Parent account -> Child account(1) < - > Child account(2) Info in quick view form is blank on child account(2). I know why, but is there any way to make the quick view form to show data when there is more than one level in the Hierarchy?

Or how can I accoplish this Without code?

I've tried to solve this With wf, but it won't work.

    Hello Dag-A -

I believe you can accomplish this in two (not mutually exclusive ways):

    1. Field mapping

    2. A workflow.

In both instances, the design is to ensure that all child accounts will inherit the custom field value (in this case a custom field named "Continent") from their parent, if a parent exists on the account.  So whenever a child account is created, if there is a parent set in the account, the Continent field will receive the value from the parent.  This will occur no matter how many levels of hierarchy there are.

Please see the two screen shots. The first shows the mapping of the Continent field between parent and child - so that if the child is created FROM the parent, then the field will be populated.  The other screen shot shows a workflow that will set the value of Continent on the child account whenever there is a value in the Parent Account field - and that parent account record has a value in the Continent field.

I'm pretty sure this will solve what you are trying to do.  Please let me know if it doesn't.  Thanks.

    Hi Dag-Andre,

Which hierarchy of multiple level you are using? Could you provide a screenshot of the form properties of your quick view form?

I tested in my environment, no matter which hierarchy, quick view form in the Account form can display its parent account. No blanks are displayed.

Here are screenshots of my property screenshots and effects:

Therefore, please check if any property settings are wrong.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao
