Master Planning is showing to purchase when there is inventory on-hand

Hi

Master scheduling was run for all the items. In planned orders, it created lines for item XXX as 'planned purchase order'. There is on-hand inventory for the item. Then i went to the released product of that item->plan action tab->Net requirements->Update->Master scheduling. On doing this, it updated the lines in Net requirement form and gave on-hand line and suggested a transfer journal.

Do i need to do this all the time, assuming that there are 200,000 items? how do i make the master plan to give the desired result.

Thanks

Harsha

i think issue is with the warehouse, update the warehouse in which on-hand inventory exist

First, you have the option of planning each warehouse separately. On the storage dimension group 'Coverage plan by dimension' is ticked for the warehouse (sounds like this is the case in your system).

Then item coverage records define for each item in each warehouse whether you will get a transfer order or a purchase order. But there is a default on the warehouse itself. On the warehouse record, master planning fast tab, if you tick 'Refilling' that's a default transfer from the 'Main warehouse' unless you over-write the planning with an Item coverage record.

Finally on the Site there's a setting to use transfer journals instead of transfer orders.

Try creating some item coverage records - review and over-write the defaults and check the setup by updating master planning on the Net requirements form.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Harsha,

Looks like you set minimum Qty on that item.

Try looking at Released Product >> tab Plan >> Item Coverage.

Like Tim said, master plan are asking you to replenish warehouse which you setup minimum Qty on it.

    Hi Harsha,

The settings for Masterplanning are complex. I do hope you had an experienced consultant who can guide you. Another reason for creating planned purchase orders is related to e.g. settings for Negative and Positive days on the Coverage group.

Any minor change in the master planning setup can cause very different behavior.

If you ran it for all items and it did NOT suggest the transfer order, then there is a potential issue in your low level codes, however are you sure you were in the same plan (dynamic for net requirements, what was run in planning?). You can setup item coverage, or indeed the warehouse to refill to suggest this, but if you filter a run or dont configure it, then you will see issues like this. Not to mention elements like configuration, but ultimately I see your question as why the TO only appeared on the second regen.

Hi Bashir, I have the same issue, but I didn't find the way to fix it,

our warehouse show's enough but master planning as for the safety stock already set up.

can you share some tips to identify the issue ?

    thanks

    Hi Rrivas

I suggest posting a new post. People will want to see why you feel it should not order, so the net requirements, then show the related dimensions, how you have setup the dimension group relating to item coverage and of course the item coverage configuration. Elements like expiry configuration if used etc.

Basically your stock will not match your configuration if it is suggesting a purchase.

According to the functionality of master planning, it will capture your requirements like:

    1: Sales Order Quantity

    2: Consumption in Production Order

    3: Transfer Order

4: Min/Max Inventory setup for X item (MP executed for X item).

Could you rephrase the response I am not sure what you are trying to say except describe some of the contents of the module involved in the question.
