Yes, I know this is insane in 2024, Trying to unscramble an egg...
Long story short... Inherited a client with Dynamics 6.5 SP2. I believe I have the sp3 files... What is the documented procedure to install this service pack?
EDIT: I have SP2 & SP3 and the Service Pack Installation Documentation.
And my current wish list for dealing with this in the very short term:
The Dynamics SL 6.5 Install files or iso(s)
any Post SP3 updates
The most recent Service Pack for FRx 6.7 that works with SL 6.5
SP11 or SP12?
The KB Article 846350 "Steps to take to move the Microsoft Dynamics SL databases to another computer that is running SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, or SQL Server 2008"
KB # 942943 Is also unavailable... "Error message when you open Microsoft FRx from the Modules menu in Microsoft Dynamics SL: "The application cannot be found c:\FRX\FRX32.exe""
FRx 6.7 documentation mentioned SL6.5 as a data source, so it was a supported combination. An early SP (6 or 7) was out at the time, a later SP should still allow connections. SQL2008 was a supported combination with SL6.5, the usual steps to restore a DB to a new server (update the System DB tables, then run Synchronize security in SL DB Maintenance) should work.
If they had upgrade rights in the past, the customer should have received a copy of SL registration keys for a later version from their reseller. Without that they would be out of luck. It seems likely that they weren't paying their SL software enhancement renewal fee to the reseller or direct to Microsoft, and no upgrade keys could have been issued without that.
