WMS warehouse app connections

Hey,

Is there a way to switch connections in the warehouse app on a mobile device remotely? We are sending devices of to a client set to our DEMO environment for testing and training purposes. once that is done those same devices will need to get re-connected to out PROD environment, is there any way to switch the connections remotely without having the bring the devices back to us?

I have the same question (0)

    Can the client not change the configuration themselves (Like, select PROD instead of DEMO)? Or did you not create the PROD configuration for them at first?

    Are you using an MDM system, like Intune or Soti? How did you push the connection settings onto devices the first time? manually device by device?

    Here's the official documentation:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../install-configure-warehousing-app

    So I only have one connections set up on the mobiles device right now, is there a way to add multiple connections and let the user switch between them on the warehouse app?

    We are not using any software currently it is all manually done since its a small number of devices currently. We still have the device with us currently but are planning on sending it soon to the client.

    Yes, you can read about how to import connection settings from a json file in the above link on docs

    Then the user from the device will be able to switch between the different connections easily

    If you still have the devices, I would recommend that you upload certificates to them (or use client secret approach, that's also fine), and import the configurations.

    The clients would then not need to set anything up but just choose which configuration they want to use at a particular time.

    RE: WMS warehouse app connections

    Hi,

    Sorry for reviving this old post, but I am in the same situation. We are moving from an on-premise to a cloud deployment, and I want to change the connection profile on all the devices when we go live in cloud.

    I have managed to push the json file via our MDM, but the default connection setting ("IsDefaultConnection": true) doesn't seem to work. The old connection profiles are also still present after I load a new json-file. Is there a way of deleting old profiles on all devices remotely?

    Hi bjurg,

    To configure mobile devices remotely, you will have to use a tool like SOTI MobiControl.  May be the free trial will be enough to get you going.

    RE: WMS warehouse app connections

    Hi Danny,

    We do use an MDM tool for that, and pushing the Warehouse App connection profiles is working. However, the "Default connection" option in the json file is not setting that particular profile as the default connection, which means we will have to instruct our users to change it manually in stead of providing a seamless migration.

    This is the option I am talking about:

    "ConnectionList": [

           {

               "ActiveDirectoryClientAppId":"aaaaaaaa-bbbb-ccccc-dddd-eeeeeeeeeeee",

               "ConnectionName": "Connection1",

               "ActiveDirectoryResource": "yourenvironment.cloudax.dynamics.com",

               "ActiveDirectoryTenant": "login.windows.net/contosooperations.onmicrosoft.com",

               "Company": "USMF",

               "IsEditable": false,

               "IsDefaultConnection": true,

               "CertificateThumbprint": "aaaabbbbcccccdddddeeeeefffffggggghhhhiiiii",

               "ConnectionType": "certificate"

           },

    Also - old connections are still present after we load a new json-file. Is there a way of deleting old connections remotely?

    RE: WMS warehouse app connections

    Hi bjurg,

    Cant help you with the json but my guess is that there can only be one default connection and you would have to make the original default "false" before importing the new profile.  For remotely removing the old connection wouldn't you just use the MDM tool to interact with the mobile and navigate to select the unwanted connection, clicking "Edit connection setting" and "Delete"?

    RE: WMS warehouse app connections

    Hi Danny,

    In my scenario all existing connections had default connection to "false", but one of the connections had been manually selected in the app. When I then uploaded the json with a default connection "true", the manually selected connection was still active.

    I could remote control the device and edit settings and delete the ones we don't need, but I will not be able to do that on all our 150 devices at the same time when we migrate to a new connection.. :)

    I might have to delete and re-deploy the app, although that also requires some user interaction when opening the app the first time.
