Setting Quantity Equal to Zero in BOM Line Creation

Is it valid to set an item's quantity to zero if you don't want it to be consumed when creating a new BOM line? The quantity would be zero but the 'Per series:' value would still be the number of parts required to make for a production order? Or would setting the quantity to zero be useless and redundant?

    Hi Blake,

The per series is just a divider to be able to assign consumption as a fraction. Great in cases where you use might use quantities like 1/33 or 5/77 instead of the decimal values. If you enter 0, you would effectively say 0/N which is 0.

    So no... :)
