Is it possible to deploy just a model through LCS quickly?

Hi all! :) I have a D365 of on-premises.

-

I know how to deploy through LCS with pakage custom model that I made.

And I have done the way of LCS. but It needs to take too long time to deploy with LCS Although I wanted to deploy just one small model of custom. (Also package file size is small)

-

So I think the LCS process will work in order to deploy for all of models even If I made a package with just one small custom model.

-

Is there anything ways to deploy just one custom small model quickly to operations environment?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Ahncj,

Are you deploy the customization model through a deployable package?  docs.microsoft.com/.../create-apply-deployable-package

If you only select one model in Dynamics 365 > Deploy > Create Deployment Package, there will be only one model in your deployable package and you will only deploy the customization in this module.

thanks your advice. Actually I did the way that you gave me. For example, I made a package with just one small model. but the time that need to deploy is too long around 3~4 hours. (from preparing to deployment of LCS)

So I guess the LCS is going to delete and deploy again entire component every time even if I just want to deploy with a small model.

So I wonder is there anything way to deplpy quckliy.

Not sure about the on premise but deployment doesn't take 3-4 hours  for the package with multiple models.

And do you know that how many hours(minutes) does it usually take to deploy completely using LCS?

We don't have on perm , usually deployment takes between  50-80 mins for us to deploy our packages.

Is the time that you said all step times? ('Prepare' -> 'Update environment' -> 'Database Sync')

A couple of things worth noting.

    1) the deployment time only marginally increases if you include all your code. In the 7.x days with hotfixes and over-layering, adding application suite could add measurable time because of the size (it needs to download first, as well as copy files for deployment). For any normal size code base, even with ISVs, having everything included shouldn't be a signifcant increase in time.

    2) It's considered good practice to setup build automation (and soon release automation) that produces the same package every time. We have had NUMEROUS customers doing what you're doing, and then having trouble in production due to missing packages, some unwanted dependency in the order of things being installed, etc. This has caused production down problems for customers.

    3) in the mid-term we will start REQUIRING that you have a package with everything in it. I'll admit i'm not sure about on-premise but my guess is we would enforce this across all types of deployments. This was announced on the LCS blog and other roadmap documentation.

Create Deployment Package let you select package to deploy, not model to deploy. If you create more than 1 model in package, you can not select 1 model to deploy.
