How to get additional development environment for Finance and Operations and what will be its cost

As a customer, we need an additional development environment for our Finance and Operations implementation project besides standard instances. I can see standard environments in LCS:

PROD
Standard Acceptance Test
Develop and Test 02 (Used as Build environment)
Develop and Test 01 (Used by partner)

We need an additional development environment for Customer related development work. I know we have 3 options for this new environment:

Downloadable VHD
Tier 1 environment managed under Microsoft subscription
Tier 1 environment managed under Customer Azure subscription

What I couldn't find is the cost of each of options and their related pros/cons.

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Muhammad,

The pricing for option 3 depends on the VM size you are choosing. With this option, you can control when the environment is running. So you can stop it to save costs when you are not using the environment. Option 2 is based on a monthly fixed fee.

If you are in your own subscription pricing is going to be based on Azure price list . You can use below link to calculate that based on size you are choosing

For example , if you choose following machine , its going to cost you $770 /month .

If you are in Microsoft subscription you don't have separate cost as you pay for licenses . You can save cost by stopping those machines when not in use ,as Andre suggested above,

You need to ask the price of (MS hosted) Tier1 environment from your license provider. But it's roughly 350-400 EUR per month. I haven't checked it in a while. The MS hosted boxes are limited and even MS doesn't seem to recommend them for development.

A dev box in your Azure subscription costs roughly 100-140 EUR per month if you run it only during business hours (auto-shutdown, potentially auto-start as well). If you don't use premium storage it's less than 100, if you use premium storage it's closer to 140. And you can set it up in more expensive ways, so you need to pay attention to the settings that you use.
