Integrating Power BI with NAV 2016 Role Center

I'm wanting to integrate Power BI with NAV 2016. In my research, I've only been able to find integration with cloud based NAV. Our Navision is exclusively on prem. Does Power BI require Navision be shared through the web or is there a work around? We would really prefer to use this software, but do not wish to have our NAV accessible outside our network.

    Power BI embedded reports in NAV is supported from NAV 2017 (also on Windows client). With NAV 2016 you can use Power Bi with your NAV but not embedded.

    Embedding Power BI in NAV is available from NAV 2017, unfortunately it is not available in NAV 2016. You have to use Power BI desktop or .com.
