All the articles I've read online are about using AX 2009 with TFS 2010.

Thanks,

Davie

Your best bet would be to try it, assuming you have a TFS 2012 running somewhere already. I know AX 2009 could be hooked into TFS 2010 with some patching on the TFS side, and it seems TFS 2010 and TFS 2012 are very compatible, so my guess would be it will just work. But no first hand experience, sorry.

It should work after if you install the compatibility patch. I successfully tried that, but only to test migration from VSS to Team Foundation Service, not for actual development. Nevertheless I wouldn't expect any troubles.

I finally got AX2009 working with TFS2012 but it was a lot more complicated than I expected. Here are the steps I had to go through:

    1. Install Visual Studio 2008 SP1.

    2. Install VS 2008 Team Explorer (download from MS)

    3. Install VS 2008  Team System 2008 SP1 (download from MS VS90SP1-KB974558-x86)

    4. Install patch for TFS2012 support (download from MS VS90SP1-KB2673642-x86)

    5. Install Team Id database from AX DVD.  I first tried installing this on the same database server as TFS 2012.  I could not do this as TFS2012 was running SQLServerExpress which does not support SQL Agent.

    6. When I tried to enable TFS in AX, I got an error saying something like "The working folder is already in use by the workspace".  Turns out AX tries to create its own workspace in TFS.  I had to remove my existing workspaces I had created.  After the workspace was created, I had to edit it to map the TFS AX folder to the correct local directory.

    7. When I tried to enter the team Id server into AX, the database would not show up in the drop down list.  I had to add the user that the AOS runs under to the Dynamics Team Server Users group which was created during the install.
