When does field 'source email' get filled in automatically on a lead/contact/account?

Hello

Can anyone tell me when/how the source email field gets filled in on a contact/account lead?

I've created multiple marketing emails, but it never seems to be filled in automatically.

Who can help me?

    Hi,

Yes, the source marketing form and source marketing page will also be filled.

You can check them in my screenshot. They are all filled automatically.

Because I used the same name "Create" in the example, it looks a bit confusing, but in fact, each field is automatically filled in with the corresponding source.

    Dear Nya,

thank you very much for your detailed and quick reply. Very clear answer. I was just wondering if also the source marketing form en source marketing page would then be filled in as well?

If not, I would expect that the source marketing page field gets filled in when the marketing form is filled in by navigating directly to the marketing page URL.  correct?

Only question I still have then, when is the source marketing form then filled in?

Many thanks for all your support & feedback upfront.

    Hi,

The source email will only be populated when the contact or lead is generated from a marketing email which contains a marketing form.

First of all, you need to use the Marketing application in Dynamics.

For example, I created a landing page marketing form which will create or update contacts/ leads.

It is inserted into a marketing page.

Insert the marketing page into a marketing email.

Send the email to a contact. The contact opened the form from the received email and submit a new contact’s info.

The new contact will be created then and the source email will be populated with the marketing email.
