Can't refresh dynamic worksheet

(0) ShareShare

Env.: Dynamics 9.0.18.12 on-premise with claims authentication and IFD.

I exported a dynamic worksheet from one of my Views in CRM. When I try to refresh the data, it blanks out the entire worksheet. I found a workaround by editing the query under the Connection Properties and then re-authenticating with my IFD credentials. However, this is a cumbersome task and not really suitable for end users. I know this seems to be a known issue but has their been any official fix?

    Hello Joe,

    .

Unfortunately, there won't be a fix to this issue at least any time soon. This is the result of the Outlook Client deprecation. This whole feature would need to be retooled from a DEV standpoint.

Here are the steps to take to get the refresh to work which it looks like you have already seen:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../export-excel-dynamic-worksheet

The main issue here will be this url in step 3:

    pastedimage1616186049608v1.png

We will want it to look like above with the "tweener" information. Sometimes, this will be showing a url for the error message you would get in step 5 below:

    pastedimage1616185748303v2.png

The url gets corrupted if you hit "ok" on this page and then hit "import". The url then is replaced with this error message url instead. There is no way to change or fix this, so you would need to re-export the file to Excel, then when you are prompted for credentials and hit the above error page (this is a good thing). You instead will just close out this error window and then you should be able to refresh the data.

    Thanks,

    Tyson

Thanks Tyson. Yes, this was the workaround I was following. It works and all, but I was just wondering if MS has any plans on issuing a permanent fix but it doesn't look like it.

    Thank you.

    Hi everyone,

the solution suggested by Tyson doesn't work for me. I'm getting the "Can't complete this action" error message right after step 3. I don't get a login prompt. When I close the error message and enter the URL again at the top, I'm getting another error message saying this URL doesn't work in IE, which I'm not using and don't know how to change within Excel. The URL in the connection string field contains the tweener info.

Does anyone know a way to get it to work? Thank you!

    Best regards

    Kaveh
