Hi,

My requirement is to consolidate SSRS 2008 R2 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 reports.
Currently company has reports in these two environments(some reports in SSRS 2008R2 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Reports). They want to consolidate these two environments.

Is Integration possible with SSRS 2008 R2 reports or do I need to upgrade the SSRS 2008 R2 to higher version? If so which version of ssrs need to be upgraded?

Please suggest.

Thanks

Nita

You can check system requirements document for supported versions [View:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11094:750:50]

Currently it says: "If you are using SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services, Service Pack 2 (http://www.microsoft.com/enus/download/det ails.aspx?id=125 48) with cumulative update package 3 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/ 2498535) or a later update for SQL Server 2008 is required."

    Thanks for the response.

I checked the system requirements, but that is the system requirements to install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2o12 R3. But what I would like to know is

as I have some report in ssrs 2008r2 and some in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. So is the integration of these two possible ? if not do I need to upgrade ssrs 2008 r2 to higher version?

    Thanks

    Nita.

You cannot use stuff if you cannot install it. So if you want to print ssrs reports from AX you need to install extensions on supported version of SSRS. If you want to build SSRS reports that directly access AX DB you can use any version you like because it does not interact with AX code only DB and has no specific requirements.

    Hi ievgen,

    Thank you very much.

Just one more question,  If I want to deploy report from  Microsoft Dynamics AX 2013 R3(Server1) to SSRS server(Server2 where ssrs 2008R2 installed), Do I need to install reporting extension on Server1?

    Thanks

    Nita.

You can find this info in the installation guide and system requirements documents.

But anyway you install the AX reporting services extension on top of the reporting services. That means: on the SSRS server.
