Could you please explain what is the use of Simulate posting in D365.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Simulate posting means, the posting to be simulated, however wont be posted until you click on post.
Means- it will check everything like the posting check up does, however it wont post.
As Ramit said, it simulates the posting process so you can determine in advance if there is missing information in a journal that would cause posting to fail. This is especially useful if you have many transactions in a journal that you want to validate prior to submitting the journal to workflow, as an example.
Please check the following post on Microsoft docs regarding "Simulate posting"
docs.microsoft.com/.../general-journal-processing
Earlier we had only two options under validate : Validate and Validate voucher only
Problem with them was they were checking each and every checks and balances which are require to post the transaction. So, many times user will get error while posting though at the time of validation it was ok.
SO, now new option Simulate posting performs all check and balances which system does at the time of posting.
If Simulate posting is ok then user will not get any error while posting.
Few checks will be performed during posting which can't be done at the time of 'Validation'. Hence introduced Simulate posting which executes same logic which it executes during posting to address any missing info and proceed with successful posting.
