I am new to using CRM and read an older thread about event status and moving from draft to live then back to draft after the event was over. I'm trying to keep the list of events "clean/not too long" so wondering why not just deactivate the event? Thank you
Good morning, afternoon, or evening – depending on where you are in the world! This issue you are describing—about managing event statuses in Dynamics 365 Marketing (Customer Insights - Journeys)—is a great question, especially when trying to keep your event list clean and manageable. Here’s how it works and why deactivating might be the better approach: Event Status Behavior:
Events move from Draft → Live when published.
Once an event is Live, it cannot be reverted back to Draft.
After the event date passes, the event remains in the Live state unless manually deactivated.
Why Deactivate Events?
Deactivating an event:
Removes it from active views, helping keep your event list tidy.
Preserves historical data for reporting and insights.
Does not delete the event or its related records (registrations, attendance, etc.).
It’s the recommended way to “archive” events that are no longer active.
Best Practice:
Use views or filters to show only active events.
Periodically deactivate past events to maintain a clean working environment.
I teamed up with AI to respond the most accurately and efficiently. Hope this helps some.
