How to recreate the old functionality "displaying totals" from DOS?

Hi guys,

do you know the functionality of displaying totals in the old DOS version?

I read that this function should have existed before the NAV Financials version was pubslished (around 1996).

This function runs over the sum index fields. The display of the totals depends on the chosen date filter.

I very interested in this functionality. How could I start to program these or is there something similar?

Thank you ;)

That functionality is still in Business Central. Go to the Packt Publishing website and find the books on programming and development for Business Central, there are chapters on how SIFT works. I'd actually recommend Amazon over Packt when it comes to actually ordering the books.

goto chart of accounts. totals net change, balance, etc. are shown like in old navision.

here you can filter totals using datefilter.

Ok, I went to the Chart of Accounts and I had a look to Net Change and Balance. I think that will help me. I plan to create a new create a subpage, where I can always display the total of my amounts. These should then change, depending on which date filter the user has entered.

Do you know if I can make this somehow universally valid, so that I can integrate this page at various points in the system? Maybe like a module? Which could be used in different versions?
