Lost Quotes

Hello, we are using NAV 2009 R2

What do users suggest is the best way to deal with & Report on Lost Sales Quotes?

We are still new to Nav, but we already found that we are staring to have a lot of Quotes in the system that we know that we have lost, but there does not seem an option for these apart from deleting them, but will this not lose relevant information from the system & the ability to report on lost Quotes & why?

What do other companies do?

We usually always raise an opportunity & then create a Quote from here & hopefully convert this to an Order.

I am being asked to report on lost Quotes, but i am unsure how to do this,

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Just giving it a bump, what do companies do when they lose a Quote, i dont imagine they just leave it in Nav forever?

    Hello Ian,

You can archive the quotes before deleting them.  Use the FUNCTION button and select archive or if you print your quotes, there is a chck-box option on the OPTIONS tab to archive the quote.

Archived quotes are saved with archived sales orders in tables 5107 (Sales Header Archive) and 5108 (Sales Line Archive).

Thanks we are doing this, i just wanted to see if there was a better solution as i don’t like deleting anything in an ERP system, a simple change of status on the Quote would have been better to lost to be able to report on Lost Quotes. We were looking for a true figure for lost quotes as Opportunities are only estimated.

An update that i was not aware of, in the Opportunity list view you have a Sales Document Type & Sales Document No. which is normally fine, but if you delete a lost quote, then the Opportunity then loses it's link to the Quote that was assigned to the Opp, so you have lost an audit trial in the future if someone wanted to see the quote that was associated to that opp?

    Is this correct?

Just a bump to see if  anyone has any thoughts on this?
