Dynamic 365 can not export view to Excel

Hi,

I have Dynamic 365 application on prime (version 8.0), there is a button on the view action bar EXPORT TO EXCEL, when clicking on it, I can see the options of: Static Worksheet/Static Worksheet(Page on..)/Dynamic Worksheet/Dynamic PivotTable, I chose the first option of Static Worksheet to export the current view data to Excel.

It works if I use my windows ID, but my client can not export it to Excel, instead they got an applications list which is not Excel in the list for selection,

I switched to the same id and role as client and tested in development environment, I can not export either, I got this error:

"This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page"

Apparently, the test id does not have access to the Excel application in the local machine. Can anybody help me how to fix it?

Are there any option I can choose from managing security setting?

Thanks a lot,

Peter

    Hi Peter,

Just to clarify, are you saying that when you are logged into a pc (using your windows account), you are able to open excel files, but when the other user is logged in (with their windows account), they are unable to?

Does Excel operate normally for the user with other excel files?

So does it actually export and just will not open due to not having an associated application?  It seems like there could be a permissions issue on the local machine.  I am wondering if it could also be related to the user signed in to Microsoft Office.

Hi Cameron, thanks a lot for your help,

The CRM application is running on my corporate intranet environment,  since I am the developer, so I have Admin access to the system,  the export Excel function works well with my log in ID, but if I switched to a role with the same access as users, I got the error I posted above, and I can not launch the Excel at all (since this is testing in development environment, so I get this error message, I guess if I tested in production, I should get the same issue - there is no Excel application launched.

Yes, I guess it may be caused due to not having an associated application. basically, I guess with the user's role (privilege's) does not have access to launch excel from the machine running the CRM project. DO you know where should I check to edit from the security of CRM to grant this user's role to access local Excel? thanks again

    Hey,

Dynamics 365 doesn't have any control over other MS applications in that way. You would need to talk to the IT department/sys admins of the broader IT system to arrange that. It's something that needs to be actioned from the Office admin portal I think, though I'm not 100% sure.
