Hi Experts,

I am doing setup for Fixed-Price Project. I want to know what is the purpose of Project Quotation. When I created Project Quotation I linked to Project ID. What is the Purpose of linking Project ID.

If project is Fixed-Price. Where do I put agreed total project amount in Fixed-Price Project or Project Contract.

How Project Quotation value with matching with invoice.

If we use Product Configurator for Project Quotation than how to invoice for Project type Fixed Price.

I am new for Project. But I read Microsoft material.

Hoping for reply.

Thanks,

Faiz

    Hi Faiz,

For a fixed price project you can use the project quotation as an internal calculation tool to see how much the project would actually cost you and what milestones you would have to negotiate with the customer to stay profitable with the project.

It can also be used for grouping / structuring the tasks to get an idea who might be needed for executing the project; kind of pre-planning and assigning resources.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Oh. Overlooked the second part of your question.

The totally agreed fixed price is not recorded in the project quotation but in the project or in the project contract.

I would actually expect that you don't send out the quote to the customer but rather negotiate the fixed price and milestone payments with the customer based on your internal cost calculations for which the project contract can help.

The project quotation can be kind of matched with the actuals if you transfer the quotation data into the project and into a budget or forecast model. Then you can do an actual cost - planned cost comparison. It does not match your invoices though.

I don't have insights into the product configurator. Have not used it so far for AX2012 projects.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
