Do I have to pay for Sales license when using PSA?

Hi, I am a little bit confused when it comes to PSA licensing. In licensing guide PSA does not give one rights for CUD operations on sales entities such as quote, order etc.

PSA uses those entities, some of the out of the box security roles give permissions on these. Is it not required to have both PSA and Sales module at the same time?

I would appreciate some clarification on this, thanks in advance.

Thank you Matthew Lazowski for your answer, but what about when you are using PSA only without Sales module? I guess you must get those entities as PSA uses them for quoting, billing etc.

It would be strange to pay for Sales licenses when you are using just PSA module, and even stranger to require more money for licenses if we after PSA install Sales module without modifying any security roles for example. Unfortunately, licensing will continue to confuse until Microsoft implements some kind of technical limits and checks (which I am really looking forward to), not matter how hard Jukka tries to clarify this in his blog.

I believe that if a PSA user needs to perform CUD operations on quotes, orders, invoices etc. they need a Sales attach license on top of their PSA license.

Hi Tina, PSA itself uses for example Project Contract which is "salesorder" entity underneath in the database. Many of the out of the box roles such as "Project Manager" include privileges on this and just read privilege. Therefore it is a little bit confusing to me when it comes to licensing. What if I use just PSA module (accounts and contacts are by the way not from Sales module specifically, you get them if you create an empy environment without first party apps too I believe)? What if I use Sales AND PSA first party apps?

Hopefully some of the PSA experts like Matthew Lazowski or apa could give a quick clarification.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Zarko,

PSA license does give read access to all of the D365 application data and CUD operation on Contacts and accounts(from the sales module) which is enough to perform operations/actions on records  .

However if you do require to perform CUD operation on Sales entities ,I would recommend to buy additional Sales license to perform the same .

    Regards,

    Tina
