File transfer between Ax 7 and On-premise app

Going from 2009 to Ax 7.  We currently have file exchange between Ax and other on-premises app, some CSV and other simple custom format.

How to migrate this to Ax 7?  At first I though about hosting an FTP on-premise and exchange file thru FTP (or should I say FTPS).  Old school but should work easily.

Then I saw Azure File Storage.

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-dotnet-how-to-use-files/

With that I can create an SMB share on-premise for the apps.  Then I need to figure out how to access this from Ax.  It says to add a NuGet Package using "Manage NuGet Packages" but this menu is disabled in my Ax 7 project.

2 questions :

- How do you suggestion to implement the file transfer in Ax 7?

- Is "Manage NuGet Packages" known not to work with Ax 7 projet or is it only something wrong in my setup?

Thanks!

    Look at Recurring integrations on Wiki. It explains how you can use data management to import/export files and web services to transfer them.

    @ford_sopris

    I didn't completly figure it out yet.  Here's where I am.

    Instead of using Nuget I downloaded the Azure SKD and extracted the DLL/assembly needed to access Azure File Storage.  I added this DLL as a reference in my Ax project.

    I've been able to access a file in a blob container located in our customer Azure subscription from Ax using the assembly.

    The only part I'm not able to do is mount the file share (in windows) of my Azure File Share as explained here : docs.microsoft.com/.../storage-dotnet-how-to-use-files in the "Mount the file share" section.

    For now, I've put this aside to work on other stuff.

    @Martin

    I aware of those.  I wish they would provide the software to upload/download.  That seems pretty generic for any customer.  like "Look for a file every x minutes, if found upload/download".  My on-premise software dont support upload to or download from a webservice.

    There is a demonstration app on GitHub, but I also think that Microsoft should provide some kind of official client.

    Martin, do you happen to know the name of the GitHub demo package?  I would like to take a look.

    Thanks again.  I actually found something that works better.  I have been staring at the Data Management tile named "Configure Entity export to Database" option but never paid attention to it.  Our client has a 3rd party reporting software but we could not figure out how to get the data out of 365 into the on-prem datawarehouse.  We were trying to use some sort of connector to routinely copy the Data Entity files down to the on-prem then consume them into the DW.  This other way is MUCH easier and has very little additional monetary cost to it.  Thank you again for your help
