6 Methods to Resolve QuickBooks Error 15276

Posted on by

QuickBooks Error 15276 can occur when you are trying to update payroll or other QuickBooks components. This error typically appears with a message saying, "The payroll update did not complete successfully. One of the files to be updated could not be opened." Here are six methods you can try to resolve QuickBooks error 15276:

  • Restart QuickBooks Desktop: Sometimes, restarting QuickBooks can resolve the error. Close QuickBooks and reopen it to see if the error persists.
  • Run QuickBooks as an administrator: Right-click on the QuickBooks icon and select "Run as administrator." This gives QuickBooks the necessary permissions to perform updates and resolve errors.
  • Disable User Account Control (UAC): User Account Control is a Windows security feature that can interfere with QuickBooks updates. Disable UAC temporarily to see if it resolves the error.
  • Verify your payroll subscription: Make sure your payroll subscription is active and up to date. If it has expired or is inactive, you will not be able to perform payroll updates.
  • Repair QuickBooks: QuickBooks has a built-in repair tool that can fix errors and issues. Open the Control Panel and select "Uninstall a program." Find QuickBooks in the list, right-click on it, and select "Repair."
  • Reinstall QuickBooks: If all else fails, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling QuickBooks. Make sure to back up your company files before doing this. After reinstalling QuickBooks, you can restore your company files and try updating payroll again.

If you have tried all of these methods and still cannot resolve QuickBooks Error 15276, you may need to contact QuickBooks support for further assistance 1 800 761 1787.
