Can't install Reporting services extensions - AX 2012 R3 CU11 and SQL 2016

Hey!

We're trying to install a fresh environment of AX 2012 R3 CU11 on Windows Server 2012R2 and SQL Server 2016 behind. We successfully installed DB Components, AOS, Client, .NET Business Connector, Management utilities and Analysis Services components.

However, we're really struggling with the installation of Reporting Services extensions. All prerequisites are met (including pending server restarts), Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Shared Management Objects (SMO) and Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Analysis Management Objects (AMO) are installed on the machine, but when we proceed to install Reporting extensions, the installation fails.

Checked the installation log and we have the following error:

2017-09-16 15:51:59Z    An error occurred during setup of Reporting Services extensions.

2017-09-16 15:51:59Z    Reason: Could not find a part of the path '<D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS13.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\Web.config>'.

If we check the Reporting services log, we see:

Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: Invalid PBI Configuration, Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. ;

Any idea what might be the problem? Tried restarting the server - no luck...

    Yeah, actually we tried this and it indeed works. But what is more interesting for me - why does this happen? Is it a problem with Reporting extensions' compatibility with SQL Server 2016? As I know, in SQL 2016 the ReportManager folder doesn't exist at all. Why then AX installer is trying to reach it?
