Confusion about GP Versions

Okay, so I am very confused about the newest version of GP. We kept hearing online that GP Next was coming, all the new features, etc.

So we recently received an email that the newest version is out, but after reviewing the e-mail we saw that the newest version is GP 18.2 (although this seems more of a replacement for GP 2018 versus an upgrade).

We then contacted Microsoft through chat on Partnersource and they said "We don't have GP Next for on Premise License. Are you sure you are talking about on-premise and not cloud". We asked if they could clarify what they meant and send us some documentation but they could not. Does this mean GP is going to the cloud? I have looked through Partnersource and cannot find anything about GP Next that seems substantial other than what the new features are. We wanted to find out if GP is available to go to the cloud, how do you migrate it, where info on the newest versions are, etc.

Thank you for all of your help ahead of time. We just don't know where to look at this point.

    RE: Confusion about GP Versions

Microsoft has discontinued the use of the year in the name. Currently GP Next is GP 18.2(18.2.1013). Despite what Microsoft says they continue to keep pushing clients to DYN 365 which is an entirely different product. The current version of GP started shipping on 10/07/2019. Feel free to send me a PM and I will send you the What's New for 18.2. Long live GP!
