Hello guys,

Need some advice since I cannot start my Hyper-V VM while I already upgrade my RAM to 16GB. Been using this a couple of days, but today it is said "Insufficient to allocate system resources" and it looks like it needs 12.7 RAM which is more than usual.

The error when try to connect is like this :

I think I'm not install anything since this is new Laptop which make Office365 is the only application, furthermore it was ok for the last few days. If it is related, I remember the last action I did in the Hyper-V Manager is Save the VM. Previously I didn't do this and I can start my VM with no issue.

Understand this is not directly relates to Dynamics 365 F&O forum, but hope there is someone able to help me on this.

Not sure it help, but this from Task Manager which it is saying I only has 11GB RAM left ->

What can I do to make my memory back to normal ? Or why suddenly my VM need that much RAM (understand it need big RAM, but is it that big ?)

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

Open you task manager and check what resources are using your Memory. Please, don't forget that many system processes use memory ( office, antivirus, etc)

Minimal requirement to start a development VM is 16 GB

    Hi Nuno,

I'm sorry, I made a terrible mistake, the RAM should be 16GB. I already changed the title.

The memory, I'm afraid there is nothing much to do, since I guess I still need Antivirus and it used the standard Microsoft Defender. And as mentioned, I didn't installed anything else except Office365. Even uninstall Teams.

And is it worth mentioning that previously it was fine ? I can start the VM and use it. The VM's state is used to be either "OFF" or "RUNNING". But currently, it is Saved. No new software installed in between this period. Btw, for Teams, is Microsoft has a light version of Microsoft Teams ? Since I need it for meeting and share screen only.

    Thanks,

    Hi ShaqAX,

What settings do you have set for the VM related to memory usage? Is it a fixed value or can it consume more when available? If so, the VM will not release the memory and you can expect issues like you have now that your host should have enough memory available to start the VM. You can either try to free some memory as mentioned by Nuno or delete the saved state, review settings and start the VM.

PS. You can use Teams in a web browser. I don't know the difference in memory consumption compared to the Windows app and the browser.

    Thanks Andre,

Yes, turns out I had to delete the saved state.
