Hi,
I am trying to enable virtual entity for D365F&O instance and access it from CDS.
Is it possible with a trial instance of CDS? Are there any documentation on how to enable and access it?
Thanks
Hi Talent,
Did you read the document about Dual-write?
docs.microsoft.com/.../dual-write-home-page
Dual-write provides a near-real time, tightly coupled and synchronous data transfer between D365FO and CDS.
Note the data schema differences between CDS and D365FO. CDS is using “Common Data Model”, which has quite simple schemas for its master data tables, on the other hand D365FO can have quite complex data structures like trade agreement and pricing modules or directory and party structures for storing contact information and addresses. So it is quite challenging to keep two different data structures in harmony with each other, and MS is working on some unified data models to achieve that .

What do you mean by trial instance of CDS? When you deploy Tier 1 VM env CDS instance is created automatically. You can refer this link to see how you can enable virtual entities using plug ins provided .
Thanks Sukrut
Unfortunately Sukrut is wrong - tier1s don't get a CDS instance created automatically.
Yes , I was wrong about deployment of CDS instance. Now we will have to connect F&O environment to the CDS environment , the below link has details about how to do it.
docs.microsoft.com/.../admin-reference
Now the connection happens through below screen but I remember at some point in LCS while deploying VM there was a option to deploy it with then F&O environment.
For the configuration and use case, have a look at www.powerazure365.com/.../cds-virtual-entities-with-dynamics-365-finance-and-operations
My trial for CDS has expired so I was not able to check it but I think you should be able to do this with trial CDS.
I also been looking for this, however any reference or setup guide starting with installation / deployment of F&O Virtual Entities it self ?
At first we should deploy this first in Power Platform admin, right? and I cannot find the guide for this, like for example : do we need to create a newly environment first ? and do we need to check to include/ create database ? if Yes, there is an input to fill in the URL, it seems it is CRM URL, so when we don't have CRM, does it meant we don't need to create database at first time ?
Thanks,
