Hello ,
One of my clients has requested to view quotes and orders for posted documents in Business Central.
Could someone guide me on how to achieve this? Any suggestions or best practices would be greatly appreciated

for example

creates a purchase quote and then converts it to a purchase order for invoicing. However, there might be changes in the order quantity after conversion. They would like  view a original quote for reference. How can I enable this functionality in Business Central?

I have the same question (0)

you could archive the quote as it changes, and use the below page to track the versions

You can enable Archiving on Purchases & Payables that way it stores the documents during release or during conversion or user can also manually trigger the action to archive the document.

The system automatically deletes quotes once they are converted to orders, as well as orders that are fully received and invoiced. To retain these, go to the Purchases & Payables page and enable archiving for quotes and orders. This way, you’ll be able to view the archived documents instead.

Second, after converting a quote to an order, you can see which quote the order was created from by checking the Quote No. field.

You can then go to the Purchase Quote Archives page to view that specific quote.

Third, once the order has been posted (if you receive/invoice directly from the order), you can find the associated quote and order numbers in the Quote No. and Order No. fields on the posted invoice. To view these documents, go to the Purchase Quote Archives page and Purchase Order Archives page.

If the order hasn’t been fully received or invoiced, it will still be visible on the Purchase Orders page, where you can view it there as well.

In the Posted Purchase Invoice, you can also select a line item and click on Document Line Tracking to view all documents associated with that item.

If the item is on an archived purchase order, you’ll be able to view and open it directly from the Document Line Tracking page.
