Sales Order Reservation

Does anyone know what takes place when a Sales Order has an item reserved, but the item is On Order.  After the item is received in, then what takes place to make the reservation switch to Physically Reserved so that the Order can be Released to Warehouse.  Is it something AX does Automatically or is it a setting of sorts that we have configured.  I cannot find any info about how an item that is On Order becomes Physically Reserved.

Any ideas where this change takes place?

Hi Tom, when a sales order has an item reserved it's automatically updated to Reserved physical when the purchase order product receipt is posted. I don't know of any setting that controls this. But I've really only worked with WMS (not WHS) - so I'm not sure what impact advance warehousing has

Thanks Tim and yeah I am not finding anything that talks about it either.

    Hi Tom,

Just want to confirm what you are asking. There is an 'Issue status' that the inventory transaction on a sales order line can have called 'Reserved ordered'. It means the sales order line is reserved to inventory on a purchase order (or production order or transfer order) which has not yet been received in the warehouse. Are you using that?

Or, do you mean 'If I create a Sales order line and there is no inventory available, when I receive a purchase order, what ensures the inventory is reserved to the sales order?'
