number/date format in Electronic Reporting Excel output

Is there a way to make sure that dates and numbers are shown in a specific format when exporting a record list to excel via Electronic reporting?

Whatever I try in the Format tab of the Format designer or the excel template file, my exports keep looking like this:

0876.pastedimage1628069685676v3.png

Format designer:

3312.pastedimage1628069855684v4.png

I have the same question (0)

    Hello XavierF,

The issue is in your excel template.

Can you format the cell in the excel template as a date field?

Once that is done, upload and attach your new template and you should be ok.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thank you. This is what I also thought, I formatted the cell (even tried the whole columns) but that did not work. After that I set up the excel template as a Table and did the formatting, also without a result unfortunately.

The cells in the exported excel file are all of type "General" (except for the headings!). So for the moment this remains a mystery.

    Best regards

    Xavier

    Hi Xavier,

Have you tried using a formula to format the text? Select the cell in the designer and click Edit Formula. Try the DateFormat function. Something like this should work for you:

    DATEFORMAT(@.TransactionDate, "dd/MM/yyyy")

    Thanks,

    Hi Jeremy,

many thanks for your reply. This indeed does the trick!

Trying the above, at first I got the following error:

"The configured expression cannot be used as the binding of the current format element to a data source as this expression returns value of the data type 'String' that is beyond the scope of data types that are supported by the current format element of type 'Cell'."

Because the DATEFORMAT formula returns a string value, I changed the Cell's Data type in the format tab from Date to String. Although this gives an error in the format designer too, I am able to successfully run the report.

    Regards

    Xavier
