Problem opening of Demo Database.

Sir,

I have been working on my Demo database since I've installed NAV in my PC. But recently I couldn't use it. Whenever I try to open the demo database it shows the following message:

'The Demo Database database on the XXX server cannot be opened by this version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Development Environment. The database has already been converted by a newer version.

You must upgrade the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Development Environment to the latest version to open the database.'

Now I've installed a new database on my PC & through which I can work now. But I have some important coding stored in my previous 'Demo Database'. Now, I can't open the database at all. So, can anyone guide me to open my previous 'Demo Database'. It's very important.

                                                                          Thank You,

It seems to be upgraded with latest version.

    Which version is it?

Please try opening with other latest versions or cumulative updates.

if it is in your local machine, then you should have that latest version in your db.

    is anyone accessing same db?

if not, you must have converted it to latest version.

    Hello Rajat,

Do one thing, Open Your "NAV DVD" and go to this path

    "SQLDemoDatabase\CommonAppData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\70\Database"

Note: Path may be vary based on NAV Version,.

There you can find "Demo Database NAV (7-0).bak" file. This file you have to restore in your Database.

But first Remove demo Database from your SQL Server, And once removed then Restore this database.

Now you are able to open the database without any interruption.

Note: But whatever you made changes earlier that are not come, So first keep backup of old DB, and then start process.

    hi,

on NAV Team Blog (direct links)

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/nav

on filter field put your selection : ex: "cumulative update NAV 2013"

or filter by category "Announcements" ex: blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../announcements

    or in Dynamics Partner\Customer Source

you need a Microsoft Partner Account to download cumulative updates.

    OPEN SQL SERVER & Connect.

Create database [See the link if you want to learn deeply]

Delete the Database. [See the bellow screen shot].

    Restore-DB.png

Once deleted successfully then you can Restore [you can also rename the existed database if you don't want to delete]
