How to rename a dimension?

Hi,

We are trying to rename a dimension (not a dimension value, the actual dimension name).

When we attempt to change the name we get the following error;

Dimension /XXXX/ exists as an extension column on Dimension code combination (DimensionCombinationEntity) and Dimension code set (DimensionSetEntity). You cannot change the name until this extension is removed.

Any idea why we are receiving this error and how to solve it?

Also will a dimension name change flow through to Management Reporter/Financial Reports?

I tried to replicate this issue, however no luck, you may debug this issue or try to remove this dimensions from the fin dimensions set and then try (I doubt)

Hi SSullivan20190,

As mentioned in the error message, there might be a customization in your environment. This is blocking the renaming process. On of the reasons could be due to adding dimensions to Excel templates.

Instead of renaming, you can also consider providing a translation for the dimension. You can provide also a translated text in your own language. Then the user interface will show the translated text instead of the current dimension name.

As Andre said, you can use the "Translate" button to change the label on the form. For specific operations, you can refer to this blog.
