365 Business Central - Excel Export Failed to Retrieve Server Config

Posted on by 1,608

We are playing with a Trial of Business Central and seem to have a basic issue with excel integration.  Any attempt to export or drop data into excel yields the following error:  "Failed to Retrieve the Server Config".  For this example we are attempting to work with the Chart of Accounts in excel, however we have the same issue with other areas of the system as well.

Any thoughts as to what may be happening?  Please advise.  Thank you.

Does the behavior is like access the table in Excel when clicking on Dynamics 365 icon? What is the repro behavior?

Having the same problem here.  We've been using this Excel add-in successfully for several months and when I just tried to use it now this error suddenly started popping up.  I see from this thread that over the past three years others have encountered the same, but I couldn't find a clear solution on how to fix it.  Has anyone out there found a way?  I did try changing the URL in the add-in settings, but that didn't have any effect and still get the same error message.

It appeared that I was logged in to Excel 365 with my company ID. When the error popped, I hit the cog and changed the login to be the one used to login to Client's environment: somebody@clientname.com. That worked!

    Hi,

From where I can select this configuration files.

Normally I tried to change the URL from settings, but it is throwing error. Also I noticed like if I didn't change anything in the settings and click ok also getting the same error " "Unable to get property 'Headers' of undefined or Null Reference'.

This issue i'm facing only when using "Setup Reporting Data", otherwise if export data from item ledger entries, it looks perfect.

since i'm new to this BC, could you please guide me in depth.

    Thank you in Advance

    Hi,

Are you able to solve this issue? We are using Latest Dynamics 365 Business Central and O365 versions.

But Still we are facing the same issue "Failed to Retrieve the Server Config" when export the data to excel using "Setup reporting Data" method.

Also I tried to change the server URL, but getting error "Unable to get property 'Headers' of undefined or Null Reference'.

Could you please help me to resolve this issue.

    Hi

Did you manage to come right with this?

My excel gives me that error even before i am able to enter in credentials.

    Hello,

We had the same issue to start with.

When you first edit in excel, the add-on should install automatically.

Then, you will need to login to the add-on using your O365 credentials.

If you get the error message you are mentioning, click on the cog in the top right hand corner, and change the server URL to that of your tenant. then press OK.

This should reload with your data.

    Thanks Mary,

We were able to upgrade Office to 2016, but still am receiving the error.  Is there an add-in that has to be downloaded and installed?  Please advise.  Thanks.
