Dynamics AX update installer reports no internet connection found.

I am trying to update my AX 2012 R3 installer to the latest patch version.

When I run the installer (axupdate.exe downloaded from LCS) I get an error on the download and install updates page "No internet connection found. Please verify that your internet connection is available."  Obviously I have internet on this machine and can access https://update.lcs.dynamics.com/Update/PackageSelect/?nobr=1  from a browser no problem.

I have noticed that the installer is trying to use TLS 1.0 to access the update site. Which is refused.

I have run an SSL report on update.lcs.dynamics.com and have found that it is only accepting TLS 1.2 connections.

Is there an updated installer that can use TLS 1.2?  Is there another way to download the updates?

I get exactly the same error. Tried it on different computer where I definitely have internet access.

    Hello Daniel,

Do you have TLS 1.2 enabled on the machine you are running the update on?

Yes, this machine is running windows server 2012 R2 without any protocol restrictions.  Internet Explorer on the machine is able to connect to the update site with TLS 1.2

I think the axsetupui.exe is using the .net framework 3.5 which will not use TLS 1.2 unless you do a special patch and some registry entries.

    Hello Daniel,

An issue has been opened on LCS, Issue 3977307. If you like search for the issue on LCS and request to be notified as soon as a resolution is in place.

    Hi Boris,

Thanks for addressing this issue.  I'll wait for the updated installer.

You might also try the registry change suggested here blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../troubleshooting-errors-when-submitting-reports-to-the-digipoort-service-for-dutch-companies to make .NET Framework applications use TLS 1.2 by default (assuming the installer uses .NET Framework for the connection, which is pretty likely).

Yes, that might certainly work.  I tried some similar registry  changes from here www.aip.im/.../enable-tls-1-2-asp-net-3-5 and was able to get it connected.  Not an ideal solution but useful as a workaround.

@Daniel Guenter: Many thanks! This solved it for me (so the registry settings for v2.0.50727)
