Hi All,
I have a requirement to setup MS CRM 2016 On-Prem on AWS environment. Is it feasible to setup MS CRM on AWS environment?
If yes, can we do this with combination of AWS EC2 instance as app server and RDS as database instance?
Is there any user story or document referring MS CRM set up on AWS environment.
Thanks & Regards
Rahul
Hello Rahul,
You would basically go with the similar approach for doing CRM installation as we do on a normal compatible Windows Server platform. Like, we first provision Active Directory Domain Services on one of the VMs, join the rest of the Windows servers running on Azure/AWS where our CRM server roles are going to be installed on the AD domain.
Once they are domain joined, you would create AD domain accounts to be used for service accounts and then you would proceed with the user privileges assignment on each of those Windows Servers VMs based on the requirement.

When you have finished provisioning necessary privileges on the local servers and the active directory domain objects, you may then proceed with the SQL server and then CRM server installation based on the scalability you would chose like single server (Not recommended for PROD) or multi server.
There may be extra sort of configuration like internal/external network based on the platform we use for Windows Server VMs for example on Azure, I had to reserve static internal IP addresses for all of the CRM server VMs which is kind of a standard practice.
Hi Saurabh,
Thanks for reply, As per the prerequisite of MS CRM installation:
Service account should have administrative access on the computer where the instance of SQL Server is located, that will be used to store the Microsoft Dynamics CRM databases.
I have checked its not possible in AWS RDS to get admin rights, now if we opt EC2 instance as DB server would it will be possible to get admin right at OS level? or is there any restriction from AWS side?
Thanks
Rahul

Hello Rahul,
Please check this thread which is similar to your ask. I have provisioned Dynamics CRM on Azure, Google Cloud Platform for testing purposes and I believe there should not be any difference on AWS as well as long as we use the required compatible software for CRM and the easiest way to achieve that would be to spin up supported Windows Server VMs on which we could provision SQL server, Active Directory Domain Services, front-end/back-end server roles based on the scalability requirements.
