Hi all,
I am trying to export the entity configuration settings using SysAdmin > Definition groups export functionality. Each time I do this operation, the resulting .dat file is growig exponentially.
First time I tried to export the .dat file, the generated file was of size 200 mb and finished the process in 45 min. After few configuration changes when I tried to make another copy of the .dat file using the export function, the file ended up as a 500 mb file and took around 1:30 hrs. After few iterations, now the file is taking around 3 hours to generate and the size of file is over 6gb, and when used for import in new legal entity, the import process is never ending.
Am currently using R3 CU9 version. Any known issues or should I clear something before each iteration ?
Appreciate your help in advance.
Regards,
Satya.

DMF is preferable way here because DMF entities will have businesses logic\validation inside.
If you are doing export\import you can have inconsistent\incorrect data because it does not handle cases when tables has surrogate keys (recid) or additional data should be created also there is no validation there.
If you don't have DMF entities for all tables you are using it's a good idea to create them.
Hi Andre,
Thanks for the response. Please correct me if I am wrong here.
By configuration and setup, I mean the general setup on AR & AP posting profiles, group tables and parameter settings. The base legal entity doesn't hold any real transaction data as such.
I am trying to use this base legal entity as a template to create new legal entities. And I was able to create new legal entities with my first version of exported .dat file template which had most of the settings done without any issues.
Is my approach wrong here ? I did go through the DIEF and see that I can only copy the data for each entity such as customers, vendors and other logical entities but not the legal entity setup information. Or did I miss something here ?

Satya.
Hi Satya,
This will not work. Many tables do have relations based on record-ID's. They will still refer to data in another legal entity. You can better have a look at Data Import/Export Framework and create new entities where needed.
Hi Andre,
I am trying to create a new legal entity with all the configurations & setup done on a base legal entity.
I need this as our business scenario has more than 70 legal entities to be created.
To achieve this, am trying to export the definition group with below selections,
On the option tab, I selected "Note" and "shared tables"
On the table groups, I selected "Miscellaneous", "Parameters", "Framework", "Reference" & "Group".
And selected the option to run the process on AOS.

Satya.
Hi Satya,
What do you mean with entity configuration settings? Which tables did you selected in the definition group?
