    D365 consists of many applications, such as Finance and Operations, Sales or Business Central. You're asking in D365 general forum, therefore it's not clear which product you have in mind. Is it F&O?

    Hello Indrashis,
     
    Yes, you can do it (I did it several times).
    I don't know how aggressive your changes have to be, but I can give you some tips:
    - clarify very well the new CoA structure;
    - possibly, do it when the user doesn't work in the system, especially if you need to touch the automatic posting profile;
    - take carry on the allowed entry setup, if you want to block the old account. The account set on the posting profile (customer, vendor, bank, inventory, etc..) should always have the flag "Do not allow manual entry" as yes:

    Hi there It's not recommended practice to change the COA.
     My advice is copy into an other legal entity and post the openings with new COA, but still if you want to do this you can perform this activity during off time.
    Go to the Ledger from GL setup.
    And do this step, later once you remove the refernced Posting profiles you can change it to new, but again its not recommended practice.
