Power BI Connector

We are trying to integrate Power BI with Customer Insight platform. There are two concerns which we need your help to clarify, 

  1. The default customer insight connector is still in BETA version. Can we go ahead and implement this or need to watch for something
  2. While exporting the data to Power BI, can we know from where exactly Microsoft pulls the data? Is it from any datalake or internal database that MS will be referring? Also live data updated in Customer profile won’t be available with this export right?

    Hi Mleu, I hope you are doing good.

    1. Beta versions are always used to test performance and quality of any new feature from a user point of view. That said you can always face issues that have not been solved or identified by engineers, but beta versions frequently are safe to use.

    2. All Microsoft apps that are based of Azure technology are built in Power Apps and the database that stores all data contained into this apps is called Microsoft Dataverse. Here more info:

    Yes, you can use the connector in production without issue.

    The connector pulls the data out of CI directly so you will always have the latest when the report makes the request for data. If you are using the APIs to insert real-time updates to a customer profile, or insert new activities those will show up in the data.
