  Hi Support team,

I am currently using D365FO (Finance and Operations).
I need to know the exact time when a record in an Entity is updated or newly created.
I have tried following the instructions below.
Because I dont see [SysLastModifiedDateTime] or [LastModifiedDateTime] field in Entity.
Can you provide specific instructions so that I can retrieve data via OData?

Thanks & Best regards,
Tue

If you need the exact time, change tracking doesn't seem to be the answer. For example, if you ask for modified records for &$deltatoken=919042%2108%2f22%2f2017%2008%3a10%3a44, you get the records but no information about when exactly they were created/modified.

You're right that entities don't have any SysLastModifiedDateTime or LastModifiedDateTime field by default, but you can add it if need it. Nevertheless defining the field value may be a bit tricky when an entity consists of several table. You can, for example, enabled ModifiedDateTime on all the tables and then use a computed column to select the highest value.

    Hi Tue,

SysLastModifiedDateTime or LastModifiedDateTime are system generated fields. To retrieve them you can use SysComputedColumns, as Martin mentioned and sort them by descending order to retrieve the last modified date time. Also, all the date times are stored in the SQL database in UTC Timezone. Also, ensure that if you are having multiple data sources and looking for Last Modified Date time across child data sources then ensure you enable change tracking for the entire entity instead of only restricting to the Primary data source.

Note: If you are leveraging skip staging in the data entity then you can do so if you are implementing computed columns/virtual fields. Also, you will notice a slight performance dip if you try to add these system generated fields, considering that they execute on the server side.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.
