Records mostly won't open

Hi everyone,

First time posting to this but have searched for a solution to my problem and can't find one using my search terms, apologies if this has been posted before. My Windows 10 laptop mostly cannot open records in our Dynamics 365 database despite other laptops being able to. I say 'mostly' but not 'never' as of right now though I have tried four different browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox and Edge) (two different user logins) and two different networks and nothing discernible happens when clicking a record to open it. Switch to a different laptop and voila, everything is fine.

What I AM able to do:

Logon and navigate the menus

Select a record from a view but not get it to open (I can even right-click it and select 'open' but nothing happens)

Run a report, even export it

Run advanced find to make a new view

Change my personal options

What I can't do:

Click on a record and open it

Click on a blue hyperlinked record and open it

Open a record after right-clicking it and selecting 'open'.

Whilst I expect this is something exclusively to do with my laptop/version of Windows and not Dynamics 365 or login permissions I am not able to find anything else that is non-responsive to clicking in any other site or part of my computer other than Dynamics 365 records themselves not responding to opening!

On the odd occasion when records do open it can be in (as far as I can tell) any one browser but other browsers will not open them when that browser can (almost like that browser has rights during that session that the others do not.

I have also tried:

Adding the Dynamics 365 domain in compatibility view settings

Making it a trusted site

Running browsers with no add-ons

Checking that javascript is enabled in each browser

I have not tried:

Re-installing any browsers

Running in any kind of 'safe mode'

Please help and if there are any logs I need to produce please let me know.

Does it work for anyone?   Or is it just these 2 having issues?   If someone that works goes on their machine, does it work for them.

If it is only 2 users and others work on their workstations, try the following..

    1. Make sure they each have D365 licenses..

    2. Try giving them Sys admin roles in D365 and see if it works.  If it is, then it is definitely security role.

    3.  Did any names change?

    4. Change security level on the browser to LOW and allow pop-ups.   I don't want you to keep it there but something to try.

Also are you on a VPN or do you have a proxy server that might have something setup by machine.

Really sounds like your company has some security setup either network-wise or desktop wide that is blocking.

    RE: Records mostly won't open

    Hi bac26,

Many thanks for responding. It works with no issue on a Windows 7 laptop but using the same D365 user login and WiFi network on the Windows 10 laptop causes the issues described. The Windows 7 laptop uses a local user profile whereas the Windows 10 authenticates via the domain controller. We are a non-profit that logs into D365 that resides on a third-party's server so we are not able to assign security roles. There is no VPN or proxy involved. There is a Sonicwall security appliance. I did get a lot of "TLS unsafe security warnings" browsing to some sites on the Windows 10 laptop which I previously asked our IT contractors to unblock on certain sites. I don't get this with the D365 domain so did not associate this but I will go and check with them. Many thanks for your help. If it resolves the issue I will update.
