How can I limit User permissions

Posted on by 120

Hi everyone. We use AX 2012 R3.

We have an issue where our shipper has the ability to "End" Production Orders before their costing can be reviewed. I want this person to be able to report them as Finished but not be able to end production orders.

How can I achieve this? The easiest way would be to make it so they cannot even see the "End" production button.

Thanks for your time.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Crispin this answered my question. I did not know which role specifically had access to this and was able to edit it for them.

    Thanks,

    JordanH

    Hi Jordan,

Try to learn it from here.

    [View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamicsax-2012/appuser-itpro/role-based-security-in-microsoft-dynamics-ax:750:50]

Specifically look for how to secure a user-interface element in ax2012.

I hope you find some good materials.

    Tip: Don't blindly follow tutorials.

    Hi JordanH,

In the AOT, you can try to find which privileges are linked to some menu items used for ending the production orders. You can also use the Security Development Tool to find out which security objects are related to this feature.

    Hi Jordan,

As suggested by Crispin, you can change the user roles from:

    System Administration > Users > Select User > Edit > Assign/Remove Roles

Ludwig, yes I have tried I just cannot find the correct permission for this specific button.

Crispin, this gives me an idea of which role has access to the button, but how can I adjust the permissions.

Khurshid, How can this be done? Where in AX would I need to navigate to in order to set the permission and create privilages?

    Thanks,

    JordanH

    Hello JordanH,

The easiest way is to set Need permission properties of the button to manual.

Then create two new privilages with effectiveAccess of the button to NoAccess and Delete respectively.

Add NoAccess privilage to your shipper Role.

And other to the user who have access.

    regards,

    Khurshid Wali

    Hello JordanH,

Have you already tried modifying the role and access permission of this user?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
