Price Increase for Many Customers

Hello,

We currently have sale pricing for customers setup on Sell Trade agreements, by customer account, by part number, and by quantity range. We would like to know how to give most (but not all) customer accounts a price increase "across the board." Short of going into each part number, and updating each trade agreement price, by customer number, manually, is there a good way to achieve this?

    This is what the Price/discount journal is for.  You can either create a journal and load Trade agreements into the journal using the Select function, or you can start from a list of Trade agreements (i.e. from a Price/discount group or single customer) and click Edit to load them into a new journal.  Then use the Adjustment function to apply a percentage (for example) increase to all of the Trade agreements, and then when you Post the journal they will be updated with the new values.  Alternately, some companies prefer to expire old Trade agreements and create new ones, as a means of retaining historical prices over time, and this can also be easily accomplished with a Price/discount journal.  Once the initial records are loaded, use Adjustment to apply an expiration or To date to all of the records, and then use the Copy function to create a 2nd identical set of records, with a From date starting a day later, and then adjust only those records (using the Select button on the Adjustment function).  It seems like a lot to take in at first, and requires some poking and playing around, but it's quite powerful and surprisingly useful.  Just remember to test it well first and not to hit Post until you're positive you have the results you want.  You can always delete the journal and start over if you get lost or mess up.

    It seems in "adjustment" I'm only getting the option to adjust price, not the To date, unless I'm missing something?

    Well, I found if I pull in all trade agreements, then "copy and revise" the lines, I can have it put a To Date in for me. The issue is, if I delete out the "original" lines, and post, these trade agreements do not "deactivate" our existing lines, it creates a second line that is inactive, and keeps the original line and date active.

    But, if I pull in the lines, then manually add a To Date for each of the agreements, and post, it will set the trade agreements as "inactive" with no duplication. Then, I pull the lines back in, copy and revise, change my from date, and leave to date blank, and increase the cost with "adjustment" it will post the new lines as "active" and leave the original alone.

    Now, that we have a means to deactivate a trade agreement, and activate a new price, my next question is: how do we get all our open sales order lines updated to the new pricing?

    There is no built-in means of doing that.  Most of our customers wouldn't take an unannounced price increase anyway, and any open sales orders that were confirmed are taken as a contractual obligation to hold the original pricing.  Even still, you could be in commodities and have a real need to adjust currently open sales orders with the new pricing, but you'll have to customize something.

    What would be the recommended way to update sales order lines on and after a date of 3/1? (assume we have agreement from our customers that the increases would be effective 3/1).

    I have another question around this (trade agreements in general I guess).

    If I have a trade agreement that is set with a "To Date" of 2/28, AX uses this agreement pricing, which is what we want. But, for the other trade agreement with a "From Date" of 3/1, should AX sales order lines use this trade agreement when a ship date is set after 3/1? Or do trade agreements drive off system/session date only?

    The date that is used to calculate the price is determined by the Date type (Today, Requested ship date, Requested receipt date) parameter, found on the Prices tab under Accounts receivable parameters.
