is there a way to get a d365 free trial using a personal email account? look like they blocked that option. I don't want to use my employers license/domain

Yes, you can sign-up with a personal email address.
As the following document said, "You can enter a non-work email address and we will create an account and tenant for you."
The following link will take you to the page where you can enter your personal email and sign up for it.
