Extracting custom data fields from segments in Real time

I recently had a request from a colleague asking for a spreadsheet containing a variety of fields we have in our system, relating to users who receive one of our newsletters.

Exporting the newsletter segment from Realtime only permitted 5 basic and utterly useless fields. There's no way to define columns when exporting a segment to Excel, which boggles the mind.

Looking at our contacts there still seems to be no way to identify members of a segment via a filter or column. Segment member only links through to Outbound segments, and Segment ID shows no data whatsoever.

How can I export all members of a segment while including a few specific additional fields in the export?
I have the same question (0)

Exporting is easy from a static marketing list, so we can push segment members to a static list, then export.
    Steps:

1.Create a Static Marketing List (type: Contact).

2.Build a Power Automate flow that:
-Triggers on SegmentMember being created/updated (Real-Time segment).
    -Looks up the related contact.
-Adds them to your static marketing list.

3.Use Advanced Find / Excel Online export from the marketing list to:
-Export with custom fields like email, city, preferences, etc.

Workaround: Use Advanced Find or a Power Automate Flow to Pull Segment Members
Because Real-time segments are computed and stored in the system, but not easily queryable via filters, you'll need to bridge the gap manually or through automation.
✅ OPTION 1: Use Power Automate to Copy Segment Members to a Static List (with all fields)
This is the cleanest way to get detailed exports.
    🛠 Steps:
    Create a Static Marketing List
Go to Outbound Marketing > Audiences > Marketing Lists.
Create a new Static List (not dynamic).
    Set the entity to Contacts.
    Create a Power Automate Flow
Trigger: Manually or scheduled (you can automate it).
Action: List members of the Real-time segment.
Unfortunately, the API for Real-time segments isn't directly exposed, so instead:
Use the Dataverse connector to query Contacts where msdynmkt_segmentid = your segment ID (if stored) — but often this value is empty.
So instead, recreate the logic of the Real-time segment in the flow:
E.g., "All contacts where Newsletter Consent = Yes"
Then: Add each contact to the Static Marketing List.
Go to the Static Marketing List
    Open it in Dynamics.
    Click Export to Excel.
You’ll be able to choose all available fields, not just the limited 5.
(Optional) Save as a System View if you want to reuse the export frequently.

Can't believe we live in a world of AI and automation and yet we need to create a static list and power automate flow just to get some extra fields from a segment. Also, have you seen the rate limits on power automate, let's just hope they don't need that list today if it's a large list!
