Settings to be aware of after restoring CRM from one environmet to another

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I'm pretty new to CRM so I became member of the forum with the hope for answers and the possibility to ask other members for help in things I don't know yet.

We want to update our different environments of CRM. We use a Develop, Test, Accept and Production environment for CRM2016.

What are the things to be aware of when backing up the production database and restore is to, for example,  the Test environment?

Besides the data, are there setting to modify because the are connected to the production environtment. And if so is there a checklist to follw to check and modify the settings after restoring de database from another environment?

I hope this question is clear enough and hope ther is someone who can put me on the right track. With regards, Gert-Jan de Vries (The Netherlands)

You mentioned it being Dynamics CRM 2016, so an on premise environment.  I would say if you had taken a copy of the Production database and restored it, it is all going to depend what you had configured in Prod.  Did you have Exchange set up, SharePoint, custom plugins, Security Groups, etc.  Many of these might need to be reconfigured in the copied environment.  I was not able to find a check list for this.  If its just an out of the box setup then you might not need to make any changes.
