AX 2012 Is there any way to set a Shipment hold on the customer without having to do a customization? We need to prevent shipment until we collect money from customer in advance. I can Stop each SO line individually, but that is more work and Finance is not typically editing Sales orders. A flag on SO header would work too.

Have you looked at the stopped flag on the sales line (setup tab). To be honest if you want to put something on hold and the processes involved outside of standard credit limit a modification gives you exactly what you require and is not excessive, but as standard stopped is the only thing available
