Creating a Sales Order using Outlook Integration in Business Central

The outlook integration works well in Business Central when creating a sales order for a existing item number that is setup and also picks up the price and location code from the customer card. However, most customers use their own item numbers when sending orders. Can the outlook integration be improved to recognize the customer cross reference number to an existing item number thereby enabling to create the sales order with the actual item number.

Has anyone worked around to make the sales orders work with item cross reference?
